Overrun this town

Mystic Crusade was a pretty barren RPG up until recently. Our heroes were alone in a town with only empty houses. Then, the neighbors moved in!
One of these sprites is not like the others...
Look at them all! Our heroes will now make plenty of friends with this army of clones. Of course, we're not going to keep the game this way. We wanted to know the limits of our game, so we cranked up the number of NPCs until the game started to get laggy. What we see in this picture is a good 300 NPCs with our hero running around them with no lag. How about that?

So far, our heroes can't really do anything but try and navigate through this crowd. We're working on the conversation system. Soon, these NPCs will be able to say the same thing over and over again.

Feedback for Mystic Crusade is Helping

The feedback we've received for Mystic Crusade has really helped us, please keep it coming!

When we pushed Mystic Crusade, we were not expecting a perfect release. As we expected, there was a major problem that only pushing to a large group of people could have found. In short, Mystic Crusade was not set up properly, and couldn't run on many computers. Mystic Crusade previously required a specific type of graphics card. Now, we've changed it to allow a much larger choice of graphics cards. We had to convert every image and sprite used in the game to support this change. We're glad we got feedback early! If we didn't hear anything until later, the conversion process could have taken much longer than it did.

The new version of Mystic Crusade is now ready for download from www.MysticCrusade.com

Game Designer

Now that our new, awesome website Mystic Crusade is up and running, we can finally get back to designing the indie game itself. We've been building Mystic Crusade along in XNA along side a separate game designer tool that we built ourselves. The designer tool allows us to really speed up the world making process. Until today, though, the game advanced faster than the game designer. We wanted to get the game in a working state to make the website and what not. So, now that the game is running, it's time to get the game designer back up to speed.

Before today, the game designer wouldn't load and save files in the same format. Now, it will load and save them correctly, but it still displays the world's poorly. Look what I mean...

A very messy game designer

This is the town in the game designer. It's a mess! But, it loads and saves files correctly so that's good enough for today. Hopefully We'll be able to get the game designer to look similar to the actual game when it's running.

Don't forget! You can download a very early Mystic Crusade demo now from www.mysticcrusade.com.

Mystic Crusade

For Better or For Worse: Indie Game's is proud to present the all new Mystic Crusade Website! With this new website we're finally able to get our game into the hands of our readers. We have been hard at work these last two weeks learning the skills to create a website where users can download the game and leave feedback. For now, the site is a little rough around the edges. We'll continue to built on it in time. We want to create a place were our followers can congregate and enjoy the game together. As for now, we want to go back to working on Mystic Crusade itself. The game is still far from complete (as you will see if you sign up and download the game).

We chose the name Mystic Crusade for a verity of reasons. The storyline for the game will be one of adventure and magic in a new fantasy world. Hopefully, this game will be only part one in the Mystic Crusade series. A name like Mystic Crusade is pretty open to a changing storyline. The bottom line is that our heroes will go on a long journey with a noble purpose.

Jenny and I are really excited about our new website, please sign up (again, free) and play the very, very early version of our game!
